At the Crossroads

Reflections on transformation, leadership, and religious life

A quiet space for leaders, communities, and seekers standing at thresholds — where old forms are loosening, new life is trying to emerge, and deeper questions can no longer be postponed.

Why this space

Many communities today are standing at a crossroads.

The old maps are not useless. But they are no longer enough. Religious life, faith-based leadership, and the wider human family are being invited into a deeper kind of transformation — one that asks for honesty, courage, grief, imagination, and trust.

For now, At the Crossroads offers occasional written reflections on transformation, leadership, discernment, and the future of religious life. Over time, this space may also include brief essays, quarterly briefings, audio reflections, videos, and other resources as they become ready.

Reflections From the Crossroads

A growing series of brief reflections for personal reading, leadership conversation, and community discernment. Begin with the first reflection, or continue with the most recent one below.

Reflection 1: Seeing With New Eyes

The first reflection in this series invites us to consider what it means to look again at our lives, our communities, and the future trying to emerge among us.

Seeing With New Eyes is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French.

Reflection 2: Gather the Wisdom, Weave a Dream

This second reflection invites communities to gather the wisdom of their lived experience — the stories, losses, learnings, graces, and unfinished hopes that may still have something to teach us — and to listen for the dream trying to take shape now.

Gather the Wisdom, Weave a Dream is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French

A word from Ted

After many years of writing, facilitating, teaching, and walking with religious communities, I am creating this space as a way to stay connected and to keep sharing what I am seeing.

Some of these reflections will draw from my books and articles. Some will emerge from current conversations with leaders and communities. Some will simply ask the questions that seem to be asking us.

I hope this becomes a useful place to pause, listen, and look again.
